for the Lovers of the "West - East" Routes
in Lublin

The enthusiasts of the European routes are welcome to the annual Conferences on the European routes that crossed Lublin to connect western and eastern Europe. They were essential to the historic road network that covered the area from the Pyrenean Peninsula to the Ural. Most Conference attractions is available to tourists and Lublin's citizens. The Conference is always held in late June and early July to include 1^st July, or the anniversary of the Union of Lublin of 1569. After that the Polish Kingdom and Grand Duchy of Lithuania united into one country. Now Lublin is again a place where the two European cultures meet, i.e. Latin where we have been since the 10^th c. and Byzantine we are particularly close to.

Jagiellonian Fair in Lublin

It is a trading and cultural event that refers to the old tradition of international fairs in Lublin. The first one for Pentacost was granted by Wladyslaw Jagiello in 1392. In 1448, Casimir IV added three more fairs, i.e. for the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Assumption and the holidays of St. Simon and St. Jude Thaddeus. Nowadays, this tradition is continued by the Centre for Culture in Lublin thanks to the annual Jagiellonian Fairs (www.jarmarkjagiellonski.pl).
